Is colostrum safe for my pet?

We are committed to safe natural health supplements.

Unlike our colostrum replacers for calves, our colostrum supplements for companion animals do not bind to the blood of the animal and change the structure or composition of the animal’s immune system. Instead our health supplements provide over 50 beneficial factors that help your companion animal by providing immune support, gastrointestinal function and oral cavity health.

Colostrum itself has no known drug interactions or toxicity levels but it does contain dairy, so we do not recommend using colostrum if your companion animal has any dairy sensitivities such as a milk protein allergy or if they are lactose intolerant.

We are very proud to be involved in increasing and legitimizing natural health supplements for companion animals. As part of our efforts we are members of the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC) – an industry group committed to the health and well being of cats, dogs and horses. We have successfully completely the rigorous NASC audit and have been awarded the NASC Quality Seal.

In addition to being NASC Quality Seal holders, we take great pride in being one of the very first company’s to have its products listed on Health Canada’s Low Risk Veterinary Health Products Program (LRVHP). LRVHP is a voluntary program run by Health Canada for veterinary health products for use in cats dogs and horses.

To ensure that the health supplement that you provide to your pets meets the highest standards, you should always find out if the product is NASC certified, and if you are in Canada, you should look for the LRVHP Notification Number.

Our manufacturing facility in Saskatoon meets GMP specifications by Health Canada and it is also inspected annually by the Canadian Centre for Veterinary Biologics, a branch of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

We take the safety and efficacy of our products very seriously, so if you do have any questions please contact us and we will be happy to answer your questions.

SCCL has met the requirements by the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC) and has been awarded its Seal of Quality!
