Years in Colostrum
SCCL was founded on the simple belief that every newborn deserves the best possible start, even when nature falls short. Recognizing that maternal colostrum can be variable and that calving is challenging enough, our founders set out to provide producers with a safe, consistent, science-backed source of whole bovine colostrum. With so much riding on the first 24 hours, SCCL takes the uncertainty out of colostrum management.
SCCL has spent more than 30 years advancing the understanding of whole bovine colostrum through rigorous research, on-farm exploration, and partnerships with leading universities and research institutions around the world. By turning scientific evidence into practical solutions, we help producers make informed decisions and improve the health and productivity of young animals.
"I’m proud to be a part of a team with such high standards that supports clients needs by providing data to support on-farm decision making and enabling Veterinarians with a product which allows producers to make the best choices for the health of their herds."
- Chantelle Gosselin, Laboratory Manager and HACCP Coordinator, Saskatchewan, Canada. With SCCL since 2005.
Nature got it right when it comes to colostrum. Rather than trying to replicate it, SCCL harnesses the natural complexity of whole bovine colostrum, preserving the essential nutrients and bioactive compounds that support healthy development while providing the consistency, quality, and safety today's producers depend on.
"Harvested from Mother Nature and going through a very strict process SCCL is unique for delivering a clean and safe whole bovine colostrum to a newborn livestock. Understanding the 'how' and 'why' makes our colostrum real liquid gold"
- Jean-Phillipe LeBlanc, Business Development Manager, Quebec, Canada. With SCCL since 2016
Care is our commitment to every newborn animal and every producer who depends on them. We believe every calf, lamb, and kid deserves the strongest possible start, which is why we develop safe, effective colostrum solutions that support healthier beginnings, lifelong productivity, and greater confidence for the people who raise them.
"As a veterinarian, care has always meant preventing problems before they happen by giving every newborn the strongest possible start. At SCCL, that same philosophy guides my work, providing scientifically validated colostrum solutions that deliver the natural protection newborn animals deserve when maternal colostrum falls short."
- Dr. Juliana Mergh-Leão, Technical Specialist, Feerwerd, Netherlands
With SCCL since 2022
Quality is the foundation of every SCCL product. As a veterinary biologic, our whole bovine colostrum products are not only manufactured to some of the highest safety and quality standards in the industry, they are proven and trusted to treat failure of passive transfer of immunity. We source colostrum exclusively from dairies licensed for human milk production, use validated heat-treatment processes to eliminate disease transmission risk while preserving valuable bioactive compounds. Our process, protocols and recommendations are all built on veterinary and research expertise to ensure excellence and success at the farm level. Every batch is rigorously tested before leaving our facility and produced in accordance with internationally recognized quality systems, including GMP, GMP+, HACCP, SFCR, CFIA, and USDA regulatory requirements, giving producers and veterinarians confidence in every feeding.
SCCL was founded on the principal that while we can't control every challenge that comes with calving, we can give every newborn a better start. Our veterinarians and scientists pioneered a way to collect, process and transform excess maternal colostrum into a safe, stable whole bovine colostrum powder that delivers nature's first nutrition in a consistent, reliable form. More than 30 years later, our purpose remains unchanged, to take the uncertainty out of colostrum feeding and help producers raise healthier animals for generations to come. Better calves, make better cows, make a better world. We are colostrum.

We manufacture research-proven products vapdated through veterinary biological standards in Canada and the United States and supported by studies demonstrating efficacy in passive transfer of immunity in newborn calves. Created by a veterinarian and her team of immunologists, who set out to improve global understanding and access to the essential nutrition found in colostrum.
The process begins on the dairy farm. Excess colostrum from the first and second milkings is collected from our dairy partners across five countries and from over one milpon healthy cows. These dairies follow strict hygiene standards during the collection and storage processes and are all pcensed to produce milk for human consumption.
Immediately after collection, raw colostrum is frozen on site in freezers provided by SCCL. Buckets are picked up regularly by the SCCL team and transported frozen to our processing facipty in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Upon arrival, every batch is tested for quapty and carefully screened for pathogens that could impact animal health or compromise safety.
Each batch is then graded based on IgG (antibody) concentration and pooled accordingly. Antibody concentration is a direct indicator of colostrum quapty and its abipty to support passive immunity in newborn calves, lambs and kids.
Once pooled, the colostrum is heat processed to epminate harmful bacteria and pathogens while preserving key antibodies and bioactive components. It then moves to spray drying, where it is turned into a shelf-stable powdered form.
After processing, our laboratory performs a final series of tests to confirm safety, purity, potency, and consistency. Only once all standards are met is the product packaged into its final bag or pail.
From there, finished products are shipped around the world to our distribution partners, helping ensure calves receive repable nutrition wherever they are.
The result is a consistent, convenient, and fully traceable product that producers can trust to work every time.
