Mixing and Feeding Instructions
Always follow the instructions on your product’s label for correct water volume and recommended dose. Our simple steps will help you feed your newborns quickly.
-
Add warm water (43 - 49°C / 110 - 120°F)
-
Add colostrum
-
Mix thoroughly
- Pour and feed
Mix and feed according to package directions. Feed the first dose as soon as possible, preferably within 2 hours of birth for maximum absorption of antibodies. If a calf is willing to suckle, colostrum can be fed by bottle. If calves are slow to suckle, colostrum should be tube fed rather than allow more time to pass.
Yes, SCCL products are free from major diseases such as Tuberculosis, Brucellosis, Enzootic Bovine Leukosis, Foot and Mouth Disease, and BSE. Colostrum is collected from healthy cows and tested after collection and processing for Salmonella, Enterobacter, and other pathogenic coliforms using regulator-approved laboratory methods.
We take maternal colostrum and make it better! Our products are made with whole bovine colostrum that has been heat-treated, standardized, stabilized and dried into convenient powder to use immediately when a calf needs it.
SCCL uses controlled heat treatment designed to preserve IgG and bioactive components while reducing pathogen risk. This ensures both safety and efficacy.
Colostrum products should be made from actual whole bovine colostrum. Many products on the market are a combination of many ingredients that attempt to mimic maternal colostrum. There should be a single main ingredient on the label: bovine colostrum. The product should also contain true colostral fat. Defatted colostrum does not provide essential fat that helps calves thermoregulate and gives them the energy they need. Fats and oils from other sources do not provide the same benefits to the calf.
Most of SCCL’s bovine colostrum products are classified as Veterinary Biologics because they contain antibodies (IgG) that support immune function and help prevent failure of passive transfer in newborn animals. This designation means they are strictly regulated by the CFIA-CCVB and must meet proven standards for purity, potency, safety, and efficacy, ensuring consistent quality and performance.
Colostrum powder should be stored in a cool, dry place under 25°C (77° F) with the bag/pail tightly sealed. Proper storage helps maintain product quality and shelf life.
